Upgrade Your Internet Experience
Do you know what web browser you are using right now?
If you don't, you're certainly not alone. Lots of people will name their operating system (like Windows or Mac) or search engine of choice (like Google or Yahoo) when asked to describe a web browser. In fact, a web browser is neither of those things, but is instead a program on your computer that allows you to visit websites. Examples of web browsers are Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome.
You can find out what browser you are using right now by visiting WhatBrowser.org, created by Jason Toff of Google. This is always useful information to have on hand when trying to troubleshoot a web site issue with Famous Web or any web developer.
If you are an Internet Explorer user using anything less than version 8, your Internet experience is simply not all it can be. Upgrading your browser makes your web browsing faster, easier, and safer. You can easily upgrade by visiting this link or visiting the official Internet Explorer site.
Famous Web has quietly been phasing out Internet Explorer 6 for awhile, and starting January 1, 2011, Famous Web will be dropping support for Internet Explorer 6. IE6 was released in 2001, which it Internet years may as well be the 1970s.
If you are a Famous Web customer, what does this mean for you? Probably not much for now. Your existing sites will continue to function just as they always have. The main difference is future changes and upgrades will not be tested in Internet Explorer version 6. By dropping support for IE6, changes to existing sites and building brand new sites will both be faster and less expensive, and Famous Web will be able to take advantage of more whiz-bang effects, previously unusuable in IE6, to give our projects together extra web sparkle.
